Laphroaig 21 Year Old Heathrow T5 Opening 2008
Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 53.4%
Released in 2008 to commemorate the opening of Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport, this exceptional Laphroaig 21 Year Old was a one-off limited edition selected by legendary distillery manager John Campbell from just nine carefully chosen casks. Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.4%, only 750 individually numbered bottles were produced.
Distilled during the late 1980s, when Laphroaig was producing some particularly characterful spirit, this 21-year-old beautifully balances the distillery's trademark medicinal peat smoke with layers of tropical fruit, vanilla, sea salt and polished oak developed through more than two decades of maturation. The result is a remarkably complex and elegant Islay malt that retains all of Laphroaig's unmistakable identity while displaying a refinement only achievable through longer ageing.
